Blink-182 is a Californian pop-punk band, formed in 1992. After recording a few demo tracks and playing local gig, Blink-182 signed a trial deal with local label Cargo Records, known for their encouragement and devotion towards the independent local music scene. Under the label, the band released their debut album Cheshire Cat in 1995 and released their first single “M+M’s”. The track generated local radio airplay from 91X. Thanks to a recommendation made by Fletcher Dragge, guitarist of Pennywise, to Warped Tour’s Kevin Lyman, the trio toured heavily across the nation, Canada, Australia and Japan in 1996. In the same year, the band signed a new contract with MCA and released their second album, Dude Ranch, in 1997. By 1998, the classic band lineup consisting of bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus, guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge, and drummer Travis Barker was formed.
The band’s major mainstream breakthrough came to blossom following the release of their third studio album, Enema of the State (1999). The album famously contains Blink-182’s top hits "All the Small Things", "What's My Age Again?", and "Adam's Song". The songs became regular tracks on the radio, and fan favorites on MTV. "All the Small Things" topped number 2 spot on the UK chart and number 6 in the US, and became a multi Platinum certified track. With newfound fame, the band started playing at bigger venues for larger audiences. Blink-182’s fourth album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001), became the first punk rock album to hit number one in America, with yet another collection of memorable tracks "The Rock Show", "First Date", and "Stay Together for the Kids". But, the band’s success and popularity continued to grow with the release of their fifth studio album, Untitled, in 2003. The album was led by singles “Feeling this” and “I Miss You”. “I Miss You” became a multi Gold and Platinum certified track.
From 2005 to 2008, the band went through a hiatus due to family commitments and other project. Blink-182 reunited on 2009 Grammy Awards stage and went on their reunion tour. It was clear that the fans were eager to hear more from the band as their next album, Neighborhoods (2011), peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. The album released singles "Up All Night" and "After Midnight", although received average chart performance.
In 2015, DeLonge left the band stating "Never planned on quitting, [I] just find it hard as hell to commit.", resulting in them taking on Alkaline Trio’s guitarist and vocalist, Matt Skiba. With Skiba on vocals, the band released their next album, California, in 2016 with lead single “Bored to Death”, which became their biggest hit in years. The band released one more album, Nine, with Skiba in 2019 and was last considered to be part of the band in 2020. DeLonge’s return to the band was confirmed in 2022 with single “Edging” which is their highest charting single on Hot 100 in eight years. The trio released their new album with DeLonge on vocals, One More Time…, in 2023, and One More Time… Part Two, in 2024.
Throughout the years, Blink-182 have released nine studio albums, and 36 singles, some of which are multi Gold and Platinum certified hits. With a global fan base, the band receives a monthly sum of up to 20 Million listeners each month.
Alkaline Trio is a Chicago based Punk Rock band. Current members are Matt Skiba on vocals and guitar, Dan Andriano on bass and vocals, and Atom Willard on drums. The band was founded in 1996 by Skiba and original members bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter. The band released two EPs, Sundials and For Your Lungs Only, before releasing their debut album, Goddamnit, in 1998. In 2001, Alkaline Trio released their first Billboard 200 album, From Here To Infirmary, with singles "Stupid Kid" and "Private Eye”. Alkaline Trio’s Seventh album, The Addiction (2010), is another monumental album for the band as it debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200.
During Skiba’s time with Blink-182 in 2016 til 2020, Alkaline Trio continued to tour with the likes of the Misfits, and released new studio album Is This Thing Cursed? In 2018 with lead single “Blackbird”.
To date, Alkaline Trio have released three EPs, ten studio albums and 16 singles. Top hits include “Private Eye”, “Time to Waste”, “Mercy Me”, and “The Addiction”. The band has a worldwide audience with up to one Million listeners on Spotify each month.
