If people talk about boybands, the new generation may think of all the Korean idols that are now dominating the global music scene. However, music lovers from the 80s and 90s may have different ideas of who the GOAT of all boybands is. Passionate fans may have different answers, but one thing is undeniable: New Kids on the Block is definitely on top of the list.

New Kids on the Block is one of those boybands who have captured the hearts of many during the late 80s and early 90s. Formed in 1984, the band consists of brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. Although the band released their debut album in 1987, it was only in 1989 that they got the attention which catapulted them to stardom. Abandoning the bubblegum pop sound of their first album proved to be a good move as their sophomore album's single "Please Don't Go Girl" became one of the most requested songs of the year, eventually climbing to No. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart—becoming the group's first hit.

The sophomore album "Hangin' Tough" won numerous awards, including "Favorite Pop/Rock Album" and "Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group" in the American Music Awards, beating other heavy favorites in the category. Another monumental release is their multiplatinum fourth album, "Step by Step," which further solidified their place in the global music scene. The album charted and was certified platinum in many countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and many others. The band that was once about to be dropped by their record label turned out to be the most famous boyband at that time, selling millions of records in the process.

The boys—or "kids," if you will—are hitting the road in 2024 to relive and reimagine the glory days of their Magic Summer Tour in 1990. In this tour, Donnie, Jonathan, Joey, Jordan, and Danny perform such timeless hits as "Call It What You Want," "My Favorite Girl," "Please Don't Go Girl," and "Step By Step," among many others.

Beginning on June 14 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the quintet will embark on a three-month tour throughout the United States and Canada. On July 19, they'll be visiting the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida, one of more than 40 stops on their tour. Along with the boys, the world-famous Florida venue will be graced by the presence of '80s icons Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
